Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has called upon citizens to exercise their democratic right and cast their votes in the ongoing 2026 legislative Assembly election.

Stalin, accompanied by his family, emphasized the significance of voting, saying, 'What you are going to give today is not a vote; it is a shield you wield to protect Tamil Nadu.'

He stressed that every vote determines the future of every person in the state and protects the high values of the Constitution.

With 4,023 candidates, including 443 women, in the fray, the contest is primarily between the ruling DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance and the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

The result of the assembly polls will be announced on May 4.
