Kochi: The Justice V K Mohanan Commission of Inquiry has submitted its final report on the 2023 Tanur boat accident, recommending safety measures to prevent similar disasters.
The 14-volume report, submitted to CM Pinarayi Vijayan, contains 141 recommendations to overhaul water transport safety and licensing protocols.
The commission, constituted to investigate the May 7, 2023, boat accident that claimed 22 lives, held public consultation sessions across 14 districts and recorded statements from 821 persons.
The report also identified systemic issues, including the adequacy of existing licensing and enforcement mechanisms, and future safety measures.
