Hyderabad - The Telangana government has decided to hand over the report of an inquiry into alleged irregularities in power-purchase agreements during the previous BRS regime to the CBI. The 114-page report, submitted by former Supreme Court judge Madan B Lokur in October 2024, has established that the previous government indulged in irregularities, misused public money, and corruption took place in the construction of power plants.

The cabinet meeting, led by Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, decided to hand over the report to the CBI due to the inter-state nature of the power-purchase agreements and the involvement of central government organisations in the construction of power plants.

The government also plans to come up with a course of action on its reference to the CBI inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project, which has been pending for long.
