Former Indian cricket captain and Telangana minorities welfare minister Mohd Azharuddin was sworn in as a member of the legislative council (MLC) on Monday.
Azharuddin was administered oath of office and secrecy by the council chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, along with Telangana Jana Samithi president M Kodandaram.
The ceremony was attended by senior Congress leaders, including chief minister A Revanth Reddy, legislative affairs minister D Sridhar Babu, and council deputy chairman Banda Prakash.
Azharuddin expressed confidence in the leadership of Revanth Reddy and thanked AICC leaders for the opportunity.
He vowed to work for the welfare of minorities and other sections of society as a minister.
