Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has called out Iran for its recent attack on a Thai cargo ship bound for Gujarat's Kandla port, saying Iranians should 'show some respect for those who have been friendly'.
The Mayuree Naree, operated by Precious Shipping, was struck by projectiles while sailing through the Strait of Hormuz, triggering a fire and damaging the engine room.
Tharoor stressed that people are being dragged into the conflict between Israel, the US, and Iran, 'whose war it isn't.'
India has condemned the attack, with the external affairs ministry saying it 'deplores' the targeting of commercial ships in the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
Three crew members remain missing after the attack, while 20 others were rescued by the Royal Thai Navy and Oman's authorities.
