Tight Contest Ahead: VK Prasanth Seeks to Retain Vattiyoorkavu Seat

Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate VK Prasanth is set to contest the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections from the Vattiyoorkavu constituency, where he aims to retain the seat in a tight three-way contest.

The BJP has fielded IPS officer R Sreelekha, while the Congress has nominated senior leader K Muraleedharan, son of former chief minister K Karunakaran.

Prasanth, a lawyer by profession, has been active in politics since his college days and has served as a panchayat member from 2005 to 2010.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, Prasanth won the Vattiyoorkavu seat with 61,111 votes, defeating BJP’s VV Rajesh by a margin of 21,515 votes.
