Trinamool Congress (TMC) lawmaker Kalyan Banerjee claimed he sustained a head injury in an alleged attack by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in West Bengal's Hooghly district on Sunday.
The alleged attack came a day after party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was allegedly assaulted in Sonarpur.
Kalyan Banerjee protested near the Chanditala police station, while police arrested five people and detained two more for allegedly heckling and manhandling Abhishek Banerjee on Saturday.
The TMC claimed the incident was an attempt to murder the Diamond Harbour MP and accused the BJP of orchestrating the attacks.
TMC leader Kunal Ghosh announced that party chief Mamata Banerjee will hold a protest on June 2 on Rani Rashmoni Road to highlight the post-poll violence.
