High drama unfolded in Kolkata after the Trinamool Congress (TMC) accused the Election Commission and BJP of tampering with ballot boxes in the EVM strongroom. TMC leader Mamata Banerjee announced her intention to personally visit the location to take stock of the situation.
The Election Commission denied the allegations, stating that the segregation of ballots was done after informing all political parties by mail. A nine-point response was issued, citing CCTV footage and the presence of candidates, election agents, and observers during the process.
Mamata Banerjee called on party workers to stay up all night to guard the EVM strongrooms, warning of potential tampering and data manipulation. Exit polls have predicted a close contest between the TMC and BJP, with some projecting a BJP win and others suggesting a TMC victory.
