The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has attacked West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari for allegedly removing Mamata Banerjee's personal security officer (PSO) of over 20 years.
TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee accused the Chief Minister of having a 'vindictive attitude' towards the former minister, saying Mamata had refused to accept the new PSO assigned to her.
The TMC alleged that the removal of the PSO was a 'calculated move to isolate and endanger' Mamata, and accused Chief Minister Adhikari of 'insecurity-driven abuse of power.'
The BJP, however, said that Mamata would be provided the security entitled to a former Chief Minister.
The development comes at a time when rebellion is growing within the TMC, with 58 MLAs forming a separate faction and two-thirds of the party's MPs merging with the Nationalist Citizens Party of India.
