A 27-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki district took his own life in a hotel room, hours after posting a poignant WhatsApp status with his late first wife. Alok Verma, who had remarried after his first wife's passing, checked into a hotel room on Monday night and was found dead on Tuesday morning. The WhatsApp status, which included a photo of Verma with his deceased wife, read: 'I am coming to you. Please forgive me, everyone.' Hotel staff reported hearing Verma's mobile phone ringing continuously, but he did not respond to repeated knocks and calls. Police were alerted, and upon investigation, Verma's family revealed that he had appeared normal in the days leading up to the incident. Verma had been a frequent guest at the hotel, booking a room several times a week. The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, with the post-mortem report to guide further action. This incident comes on the heels of another disturbing case in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore, where a man allegedly killed his estranged wife with a sickle and posted a selfie on WhatsApp, claiming she had cheated on him.
