The Madhya Pradesh government has requested the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the probe into the death of Twisha Sharma, a woman in her 30s who was found dead at her marital residence in Bhopal.

Her family alleged foul play, citing injury marks on her body and claiming she said she was assaulted by her husband, who has since gone missing.

Several developments, including a CCTV footage and WhatsApp chats, have raised questions over the events that led to her alleged suicide.

The police have registered a FIR against the deceased's husband and mother-in-law under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 80(2) (dowry death), based on the family's complaint.

The mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, has made several statements, including claims that Twisha held liberal views and never watered plants, and that her son was suffering due to his wife's behavioral issues.

She also alleged that Twisha was undergoing psychiatric treatment and taking medication for schizophrenia, and that she suffered from drug withdrawal after moving to Bhopal.
