The DMK's youth wing secretary, Udhayanidhi Stalin, has been elected as the leader of the legislature party. The decision was made at a meeting led by party president MK Stalin at the Anna Arivalayam in Chennai.

Udhayanidhi Stalin, who won the Chepauk-Thiruvellikeni constituency in Tamil Nadu, was elected alongside KN Nehru as deputy leader and EV Velu as whip.

Veteran journalist Radhakrishnan RK expressed concerns about Udhayanidhi Stalin's ability to navigate the role, citing his lack of experience in opposition benches.

Udhayanidhi Stalin secured 62,992 votes in the April 23 Assembly elections, defeating D Selvam by a margin of 7,140 votes.
