The University Grants Commission (UGC) has written to higher education institutions (HEIs) across the country, urging them to disseminate information about a post-budget webinar on education and skilling initiatives scheduled for March 9.

The webinar is part of the post-budget series on key themes being organised by the finance ministry following the Union Budget 2026–27.

The department of higher education (DoHE) under the education ministry is leading the organisation of the webinar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the opening session, followed by parallel breakout sessions on budget announcements related to education and skilling, and concluding remarks by Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The webinar will focus on issues having far-reaching implications for the higher education sector, including the constitution of a high-powered ‘Education to Employment and Enterprise’ standing committee, the setting up of AVGC labs in 15,000 schools, and the establishment of a new National Institute of Design.

The ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship (MSDE) will host a dedicated breakout session on ‘strengthening India’s care ecosystem: skilling 1.5 lakh multi-skilled caregivers’.

Insights from the breakout discussions will be presented during the concluding session, where Union ministers will outline key recommendations and the way forward for the strategic implementation of the budget announcements.
