Ukraine has expressed 'serious concern' over the arrest of six of its nationals by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on charges of illegally entering Mizoram and training ethnic armed groups in Myanmar.
The Ukrainian Embassy in India said the case may be 'orchestrated and politically motivated' after reports emerged that Russian authorities had shared information on the matter.
The six individuals, along with a US citizen, were arrested on March 13 from airports in Delhi, Lucknow, and Kolkata and have been remanded to NIA custody till March 27.
Ukraine rejected any insinuations of its involvement in supporting terrorist activities and emphasized its commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms.
The Ukrainian side also accused Russia of trying to drive a wedge between Ukraine and India, and urged the Indian authorities to ensure the legality, transparency, and openness of the process.
