Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak has warned of action against those responsible for a viral video showing an elderly man carrying his ailing wife from the Bareilly district hospital in a handcart.
A probe into the matter has begun following Pathak’s direction, with a three-member committee formed to investigate and submit a report within three days.
According to the hospital's additional superintendent, Dr RC Dixit, the elderly man's wife had been undergoing treatment for the past three days before being taken away without informing doctors or hospital staff.
The elderly man alleged that despite spending hours at the hospital, his wife was not admitted, sparking outrage and prompting the probe.
