A US aircraft carrier, along with its strike group, is likely to leave the West Asia region in a few days, CBS reported, citing a top US official.
The USS Gerald R Ford, one of the three US carriers in the region, will be leaving the Gulf, with the other two carriers, the USS George HW Bush and the USS Abraham Lincoln, operating in the Arabian Sea to enforce the US blockade.
The Ford's return will grant relief to almost 4,500 sailors deployed there for over 10 months and reduce the US might in the blockade.
The carrier has been deployed for 309 days, the longest time any modern US aircraft has been sea-borne, and will undergo repairs and maintenance once it returns to Virginia around mid-May.
