Former US Secretary of State John Kerry claimed that three US presidents, including George W Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden, rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's push for war with Iran before Donald Trump agreed.
Kerry stated that the previous administrations refused to escalate tensions because they had not exhausted all peaceful remedies and were mindful of past conflicts like the US wars on Vietnam and Iraq.
He criticized the Trump administration's decision to abandon the 2015 nuclear deal and move towards military engagement, saying it made war inevitable by leaving Iran with no freedom to move in a different direction.
Kerry also referenced recent allegations involving the FBI director and Kash Patel, saying that bombing Iran would not improve negotiations.
Netanyahu has been pushing for war with Iran for over three decades, but the International Atomic Energy Agency and UN inspectors have found no proof that Iran has built or obtained a nuclear weapon.
