Security has been ramped up in Uttam Nagar and other areas of Delhi ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr following a High Court directive. The move comes after tensions simmered in the area following a clash between two communities on March 4 during Holi celebrations.

The Delhi Police has stepped up security across Uttam Nagar and the adjoining Dwarka district, with a focus on mosques, Eidgahs, and religious establishments visited by Muslims during Eid celebrations.

Area domination exercises such as foot patrols and vehicle checks are being carried out regularly, and security personnel from Delhi Police and armed paramilitary forces will remain deployed in sufficient numbers for law and order duty.

The Delhi High Court directed the police and civil administration in Uttam Nagar to take all necessary measures to maintain peace and ensure a secure environment during Eid.

The court said it is the duty of all concerned to ensure that public life is not disrupted by any kind of untoward incident involving vandalism or hooliganism on the part of a single individual or any other section of society.
