In a strongly worded statement, Union Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh on Thursday urged the swift extradition of fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya. Speaking in Gonda, Singh emphasized that 'action will be taken' against Mallya, who has been evading Indian authorities for years. Singh noted that even terrorists have been successfully extradited in recent years, citing the case of Tahawwur Rana, a key accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. Mallya, who has been living in the UK since 2016, has been accused of fraud and money laundering. The Bombay High Court recently issued a stern warning to Mallya, stating that his plea challenging the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act will not be heard unless he returns to India immediately. Mallya's recent birthday celebrations in London, where he was seen partying with another fugitive, Lalit Modi, have raised further concerns about his willingness to return to India.
