Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay was offered the chief minister's post along with 50% of assembly seats by a party for the upcoming Tamil Nadu elections, party general secretary Aadhav Arjuna revealed.
Arjuna claimed that Vijay turned down the proposal, citing that he wouldn't 'succumb to Delhi' for the sake of the CM's post.
The TVK was offered a 50:50 seat-sharing deal and the chief minister's post for two-and-a-half years, but Vijay prioritized the trust of Tamil Nadu people over the CM's post.
TVK plans to contest all 234 constituencies and aims to form a secular social justice government.
Earlier, AIADMK and BJP dismissed rumors of an alliance with TVK, calling them 'baseless'. The Election Commission of India announced that Tamil Nadu will vote in a single phase on April 23, with counting on May 4.
