The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) of actor-turned-politician Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar has made a stunning debut in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, delivering a stellar performance. Initially crossing the majority mark of 118, TVK's tally dropped below 118, leaving the party trailing behind MK Stalin's Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).

Vijay, contesting from twin seats Perambur and Trichy East, is leading in both. The Election Commission will announce the results for the Tamil Nadu assembly elections, which have been an intense three-way battle between the TVK, the DMK, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

TVK's solo strategy has been a key factor in its success, with Vijay positioning his party on modern Dravidian principles. The party has been registered by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and has been contesting on all 234 assembly constituencies.

Exit poll predictions had projected TVK as a surprising X factor in the state, similar to MGR's victory in 1977. While the DMK-led alliance is expected to win, TVK's performance has left many surprised.
