Kolkata: The Election Commission of India has reported that around 35-40% of the 3.2 million cases of 'logical discrepancy' under the special intensive revision (SIR) have been deleted from the electoral roll list in West Bengal.
More than six million voters' claims were sent to judicial officers for adjudication, with around 2.9 million cases disposed of by March 23.
Only one million names were uploaded in the first supplementary list published on Monday night, leading to widespread chaos due to technical glitches.
The poll panel is likely to publish a second supplementary list on Friday and has approached the Calcutta high court to publish lists daily.
The deletion of names is in addition to the 6.18 million names already dropped from the final electoral roll published on February 28.
