Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of the Noida International Airport in Uttar Pradesh’s Jewar area on Saturday. Once fully completed, the airport is expected to become India’s largest, with both domestic and international flight operations.

Commercial flight operations at the airport are expected to begin between mid-April and May 2026, while international flights are likely to start from September 2026 onwards.

The Noida airport will have the capacity to handle up to 225 million passengers annually once fully operational, surpassing Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport's capacity of 7.9 crore passengers a year.

However, Delhi IGI remains a well-established aviation hub with extensive connectivity, high flight frequency, and mature infrastructure, making it difficult for Noida airport to match or exceed its operational dominance in the near future.
