A 27-year-old woman in Bengaluru has been arrested for allegedly killing her colleague and partner by setting him on fire inside her home under the guise of a proposal.

According to police, the incident took place on Tuesday morning when the victim, Kiran (27), was blindfolded and tied to a chair before being set on fire.

The accused, Prerana, allegedly recorded the incident on her mobile phone and initially attempted to mislead investigators by claiming she was in the toilet when she heard a noise.

CCTV footage and preliminary findings contradicted her version, and police believe the act may have been triggered by tensions in the relationship.

The accused woman has been taken into custody and questioned, and a case of murder has been registered.
