The 2026 FIFA World Cup is almost here, with defending champions Argentina and Lionel Messi returning to retain the trophy. Cristiano Ronaldo will also have a chance to win his first world title. The tournament is being co-hosted by the US, Mexico, and Canada, with three interconnected opening ceremonies.
The ceremonies will be staged across Mexico, Canada, and the US, with a common theme shared by the co-hosts. Each opening ceremony will begin 90 minutes before the host team's tournament opener.
The ceremonies are being produced by Marco Balich, who has also worked on several Olympic opening ceremonies. FIFA President Gianni Infantino said, 'The FIFA World Cup is a moment the world shares, and that begins with how we open it.'
The opening ceremonies will feature performances from various artists, including Shakira, Burna Boy, Tyla, J Balvin, Alejandro Fernandez, Lila Downs, Belinda, Danny Ocean, Mana, and Los Angeles Azules in Mexico. In Canada, Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Elyanna, Jessie Reyez, Michael Buble, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy, Vegedream, and William Prince will perform. The US opening ceremony will feature performances from various artists.
The live telecast of the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremonies in India will be available on Unite8 Sports television channels, while the live streaming will be available on Zee5.
