Kiran Pahal, MR Poovama, Prachi and Vithya Ramraj brought India their first gold in athletics at the Asian Games 2026 on Tuesday, coming first in the women's 4x400m relay final. After several silvers and bronzes in track and field, India finally got the top prize, ironically on the last day of athletics at the Asiad. Earlier, shooter Neeru scripted history, winning the first individual gold for the contingent at the ongoing competition. She won the women's trap individual final, and overall, India's medal tally surpassed 50, standing at 52. Overall, it was a good day for athletics, as Gulveer Singh extended his fruitful campaign, winning his third medal of the event and taking home bronze in the men's 5000m final. Earlier, he had won silver in the men's 10,000m and men's 1500m events. Earlier, the shooting contingent brought another silver after Neeru, Aashima Ahlawat, and Manisha Keer won silver in the women's trap team event.The mixed relay team also won bronze after Gurindervir Singh, Sneha, Animesh Kujur, and Harita came third.
