The initiative, in collaboration with the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS), aims to develop long-term training systems aligned with India's Olympic roadmap. The camps will cover seven sports: Taekwondo, Athletics, Archery, Chess, Table Tennis, Tennis, and Swimming. A chess camp, featuring international coaches Dejan Bojkov and Vishal Sareen, kicked off on Saturday with 47 selected athletes and coaches from Assam participating until January 27. The table tennis camp, led by coach Sekpong Yomjinda from Thailand, includes 52 participants and six coaches from the state. It will continue until January 24. A tennis training camp, conducted by Brazilian coach Vinicius Ono, features 32 athletes and six coaches from Assam, also concluding on January 24. The camps will not only identify new sporting talent from Assam but also upgrade the skills of the state's coaches through modern training methodologies. The collaboration between the Assam government and IIS is expected to bring international expertise to the state's sports ecosystem, paving the way for future Olympic success.
