Ayush Shetty's remarkable run at the Badminton Asia Championships came to an end with a loss in the men's singles final, securing a well-deserved silver medal in Ningbo, China, on Sunday.

The 20-year-old shuttler from Mangaluru was no match for reigning world champion Shi Yu Qi, losing 8-21, 10-21 in 42 minutes.

This was Shetty's first appearance in the final of the prestigious continental championships, following in the footsteps of Dinesh Khanna, who won the men's singles crown in 1965, and the duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who claimed the men's doubles gold in 2019.

Shetty's impressive journey included victories over reigning Asian Games gold medallist Li Shi Feng, Chi Yu Jen, Jonatan Christie, and world No.1 Kunlavut Vitidsarn, showcasing his skills on the circuit.

This silver medal marks a significant milestone for Shetty, who graduated to the senior circuit two years ago and has been making waves in the badminton world.
