Kolkata: Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer pulled off a series of incredible saves to help his team edge past Real Madrid 2-1 in the Champions League quarter-final. The 40-year-old Neuer made nine saves, the most for Bayern since November 2020, to earn the player-of-the-match award.

Goals from Luis Diaz and Harry Kane had put Bayern 2-0 ahead, but Kylian Mbappe's shot in the 65th minute reduced the deficit. Neuer's positioning and diving saves forced Mbappe wide and prevented a Vinicius Jr curler in the first half.

Bayern's passing was as good as their press, and they showed it in the first goal. Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry, and Kane worked the ball slickly before Diaz finished the move running on the outside of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Kane's 49th goal of the season was also his first from outside the box in the 2025-26 Champions League. His xG efficiency in Bundesliga is 10.1, the next best is 4.97. Kane has 54 goals contributions and has combined to score 72 goals with Diaz, making them the most attacking partnership in Europe.
