Daniel Berger stormed to a three-stroke lead on day one of the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Florida, carding a flawless 63.
The 32-year-old American made nine birdies, including three straight from the 10th, to take the top spot.
Berger, who has struggled with injuries in the past, including a broken finger and back issues, said getting into a rhythm was key.
He predicted challenging conditions for the rest of the week, with the greens already looking 'like white'.
Collin Morikawa and Ludvig Aberg are tied for second, with Morikawa surging late for his six-under round and Aberg delighted with his 66 in swirling winds.
World number one Scottie Scheffler shot 70, while Rory McIlroy finished on even-par after an erratic round.
