MADISON, Wis. - In a dominating display, John Blackwell led the Wisconsin Badgers to a 96-76 victory over Marquette on Saturday, scoring a season-high 30 points. The Badgers' star shooting guard shot an impressive 8-of-17 from the field, including 6-of-12 from beyond the arc, and went 8-of-10 from the free throw line. Blackwell's outstanding performance was complemented by strong efforts from his teammates, including Andrew Rohde, who contributed 17 points and four steals, and Nick Boyd, who added 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Freshman Nolan Winter notched his fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds, while Aleksas Bieliauskas recorded his first double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Marquette's Adrien Stevens led the Golden Eagles with 15 points, but the team struggled to find their rhythm, shooting just 31.4% from the field and 4-of-16 from three-point range in the first half. Blackwell's four three-pointers in the first half propelled the Badgers to a 43-31 lead at halftime, and they maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half. The Badgers will look to carry their momentum into their next game, as they face Nebraska in the Big Ten Conference opener on Wednesday. Marquette, meanwhile, will take on No. 1 Purdue on Saturday.
