BYU Cougars Soar Past Rival Utah 70-52, Advance to Big 12 Quarters

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Delaney Gibb led the BYU Cougars to a 70-52 win over Utah in the Big 12 Tournament, scoring 19 points and dishing out eight assists.
The ninth-seeded Cougars won their fifth straight game and beat the eighth-seeded Utes for the third time this season, advancing to play top seed and No. 10-ranked TCU in a Friday quarterfinal.
Lara Rohkohl scored 12 points in the second half, including nine in the pivotal third quarter, and had eight rebounds. Brinley Cannon scored 12 points, making four 3-pointers.
BYU shot 53% in the third quarter, outscoring Utah 24-7 and taking a 51-43 lead. The Cougars made 11 of 30 3-pointers and turned 19 turnovers into 18 points.
Utah's Lani White scored 20 points, the only Ute in double figures, but the team struggled with shooting, reaching only 40% overall.
