A 26-year-old man, Joseph Savarino, the grandson of Duke basketball legend Mike Krzyzewski, has been charged with driving while impaired after a fatal crash in Durham, North Carolina.
The incident involved a 15-year-old boy riding an electric bike who later died.
Savarino allegedly struck the boy, identified as Jack O'Shea, near the intersection of Cole Mill Road and Wyndham Lane, and had a blood alcohol content of 0.11 in a breathalyzer test.
He has been charged with a misdemeanor DWI and is currently behind bars on a $100,000 bond.
The victim's mother expressed grief, saying her son was 'perfect, smart, athletic, fearless and handsome' and that they will 'carry him with us always.'
