In a surprise twist, Crystal Palace has completed the signing of Norwegian striker Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a whopping 48 million pounds. This move marks the London club's second major signing this transfer window, following their record-breaking deal for Brennan Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur. Strand Larsen, who scored 14 goals in his debut season at Wolves, has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Palace. The 25-year-old forward made a strong impression at Celta Vigo in 2024 and has continued to excel this season. However, the man Strand Larsen was initially meant to replace, French international Jean-Philippe Mateta, is still at the club. Mateta's transfer to AC Milan fell through due to medical issues, with the Italians pulling out of the deal worth around 30 million pounds. Meanwhile, Liverpool has agreed to a 60-million-pound deal for 20-year-old centre back Jeremy Jacquet, but he will stay with Rennes until the end of the season. Atletico Madrid has also signed Nigeria forward Ademola Lookman from Atalanta for around 30 million pounds, making him the first English-born player to have played in the Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, and LaLiga. The transfer window has closed in England, France, Italy, and Germany, but remains open in Spain and Belgium until 2259 GMT and in Portugal and the Netherlands until Tuesday. Some signings not yet announced can still go ahead if the paperwork is in motion.
