In a shocking turn of events, Ivory Coast attacker Elye Wahi, who played in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, was arrested last month as part of fixing investigations.

Wahi, 23, was playing for Nice in Ligue 1 in France at the time and was arrested on May 29 after being interviewed in police custody.

According to reports, the French authorities are investigating if Wahi deliberately earned a yellow card on May 17 against Metz, which could be a case of spot-fixing.

Wahi was released without charges, but the investigation is still ongoing, and if found guilty, his offence could come under spot-fixing.

Wahi played 55 minutes in Ivory Coast's 1-0 win against Ecuador in Philadelphia and is set to face Germany in their next match.
