Bengaluru: In a timely offer, German entrepreneur Wadim Rosenstein has stepped forward to host the Candidates tournament in Germany, ensuring the safety of players amidst the ongoing war in the Middle East.

The Candidates tournament is scheduled to take place in Cyprus between March 28-April 16, but with Koneru Humpy reportedly considering withdrawal due to safety concerns, Fide has been informed of Germany's readiness to support and provide an immediate solution.

Rosenstein, a chess enthusiast and founder of WR Group, has offered to cover all organisational and logistical expenses for the tournament, ensuring maximum safety and reliability for all participants and officials.

As the tournament is barely a week away, it remains to be seen how Fide will handle the evolving situation.
