Lucknow witnessed a scorching day with temperatures soaring to 42 degrees Celsius as India took on Afghanistan in the second One-day International. Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan stole the show with a blistering 224-run partnership, helping India amass 402 runs.

Gill smashed a sparkling century (154 off 110 deliveries) while Kishan scored 125 off 79 deliveries. Rohit Sharma contributed 48 runs at the top. Afghanistan, in reply, collapsed to 232 all out in 44.3 overs, handing India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Gill's ninth century was his second-highest ODI score, while Kishan underlined his form with his second century in the format. The conditions were punishing, with Gill requiring medical attention for his back and showing signs of exhaustion.

India's first 400-plus score since their game against Netherlands at the 2023 World Cup in Bengaluru, this victory marked a significant milestone for the team.
