Foxborough, Mass. — Erling Haaland scored his first two World Cup goals and added an assist in Norway's 4-1 victory over Iraq in Group I. Haaland's 56th and 57th international goals came in Norway's first World Cup appearance since 1998.
Haaland's first goal came in the 29th minute off a cross from David Moller Wolfe, while his second goal was a result of a defensive blunder by Iraq's goalkeeper Jalal Hassan. Haaland's assist led to Kristian Thorstvedt's goal just before the final whistle.
Iraq briefly equalized in the 38th minute when Aymen Hussein scored a header off a cross from Amir Alammari. However, Haaland's goals propelled Norway to a 4-1 victory.
