The India U20 women's team has made significant strides since securing qualification, with head coach Joakim Alexandersson expressing confidence in their ability to compete against Asia's top teams in the upcoming AFC U20 Women's Asian Cup in Thailand.
The Young Tigresses will face Japan, Australia, and Chinese Taipei in Group C, with the top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed sides, progressing to the quarter-finals.
Alexandersson credits the team's improvement to better ball movement, quicker passing, and more clarity in the final third, as well as defensive organisation and improved communication.
Despite facing tough opponents, Alexandersson stresses the importance of belief and confidence, saying the team wants to play with courage, intelligence, and belief.
India's preparations have included friendlies against Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, providing contrasting challenges, and the team has focused on tactical discipline and defensive aggression.
The team has had time to acclimatise in Bangkok, beginning training on March 21, and Alexandersson expects total commitment from the girls, urging them to work hard, fight for every duel, and stay disciplined defensively.
