FIFA President Gianni Infantino has suggested introducing automatic red cards for players who cover their mouths during confrontations with opponents, following a recent racism controversy in the Champions League.
The proposal comes after Vinicius Junior accused Benfica's Gianluca Prestianni of using racist words during a match, which Prestianni has denied.
Infantino stated that if a player covers their mouth and says something with racist consequences, they should be sent off.
He added that if a player doesn't have something to hide, they wouldn't need to cover their mouth when speaking.
Mark Bullingham, England FA CEO and IFAB member, said that the governing body will assess measures for the World Cup and consider introducing a rule change or penalty.
