Former Toronto Raptors center Jontay Porter, banned from the NBA for life in 2024 for disclosing confidential information and wagering on games, has signed with the Seattle Superhawks in the independent United States Basketball League.

Porter, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in July 2024, will have the chance to play again when the Superhawks begin their season at home on Saturday.

The USBL stated that it believes in second chances and is confident in Porter's sincerity, citing his genuine remorse and commitment to personal growth.

Porter, who averaged 4.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 26 games for Toronto in the 2023-24 season, faces a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
