The Khelo India Tribal Games are a historic initiative that brings together over 2300 athletes from 31 states and union territories to compete in Olympic disciplines.

The Games provide a structured national platform for tribal athletes to showcase their talent and receive advanced training at Sports Authority of India (SAI) centres.

Tribal communities in India have a natural sporting ability, with endurance, resilience, and physical strength often a part of their daily life.

Several world-class athletes have emerged from tribal backgrounds, representing India with distinction in hockey, archery, football, and athletics.

The launch of the Khelo India Tribal Games is a natural extension of the Government of India's vision to strengthen the sports ecosystem, providing athletes with financial support, scientific training, and international exposure.

The Games may be the beginning of a longer journey for participating athletes, potentially leading to representing India at the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, or the Olympics.
