James Dolan, owner of the New York Knicks and New York Rangers, has apologized to Knicks fans after their historic win. Dolan expressed his regret over the long wait for the team's first NBA title in 53 years.

During an interview with ESPN host Ernie Johnson, Dolan said, 'Hey, New York, I'm sorry it took so long, but here we are, and hopefully it won't take that long again.'

The Knicks won their first NBA title in over five decades after defeating the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in the fifth game of the best-of-seven series.

Earlier in the week, Dolan had confidently predicted a win, saying, 'I expect to win tonight, being as [when] I make predictions here they come true.'

The historic win sent fans into a frenzy, with celebrations taking place in the streets of New York City and outside Madison Square Garden.
