Sebastian Korda sent shockwaves through the Miami Open as he defeated world number one Carlos Alcaraz 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 in the third round.
Korda, ranked 36th in the world, secured his first victory over a world number one, marking Alcaraz's second consecutive early exit in Miami.
Alcaraz had been on a remarkable 73-6 record, including a 16-0 start to 2026, but Korda's determination paid off as he seized a break for 4-3 in the third set and held his serve to win the match.
Korda will face Spanish qualifier Martin Landaluce in the next round, while world number one Aryna Sabalenka advanced to the quarter-finals with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Caty McNally.
Sabalenka, trying to complete the 'Sunshine Double', will face China's Olympic gold medallist Zheng Qinwen in the next round.
