Lakshya Sen overcame a second-game hiccup to enter the All England Open Badminton Championships quarter-finals. Sen, the world No.12, had three match points in the second game but let them slip before taking a fourth opportunity at 21-20. He then lost that chance too, but managed to regain composure and win the decider 21-10 against Angus Ng Ka Long.

Sen, who had squandered two opportunities to win Indian badminton's fourth Olympic medal in 2024 Paris Olympics, showed great mental strength in the third game after losing the second from a comfortable position. His coach U Vimal Kumar praised Sen's performance, saying 'He displayed great mental strength in the third game after losing that heart-breaking second from a comfortable position.'

Sen will now face Chinese sixth seed Li Shi Feng, who won the All England Open in 2023. The two players have an even 7-7 record against each other.
