Former NBA player Kendrick Perkins is set to join Jackson State Tigers in a dual role, combining front-office duties with involvement in the university's broadcast and journalism department.
Perkins, a 14-year NBA veteran, will maintain his role as an ESPN analyst while taking on the new responsibilities at Jackson State.
He joins a growing list of current and former NBA figures in leadership roles at colleges, including Shaquille O'Neal at Sacramento State, Stephen Curry at Davidson, John Wall at Howard, and Damian Lillard at Weber State.
Perkins' appointment comes as schools increasingly turn to former NBA players for front-office-style leadership roles, particularly in the transfer portal and NIL era.
