Neeraj Chopra Thrilled with Comeback, Eyes Commonwealth and Asian Games

The javelin ace finished fourth with an effort of 85.69m at Friday’s Doha Diamond League, ticking the fitness and CWG qualification boxes

New Delhi: Neeraj Chopra expressed satisfaction with his comeback to international competition, finishing fourth at the Doha Diamond League with a best throw of 85.69m.

He confirmed selection for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games and is looking forward to the Asian Games in September-October.

At the inaugural Indian Athletics Awards, Chopra was named the Best Male Athlete, while Parul Chaudhary received the Best Female Athlete accolade.

Chopra credited his former coach Jan Zelezny as his role model, saying he has always chased excellence and believes in the capabilities of Indian athletes.

He urged youngsters to have patience and belief in themselves, adding that injuries should be avoided.
