Former Arizona Cardinals head coach and NFL assistant Dave McGinnis, affectionately known as 'Coach Mac,' has passed away at the age of 74. He enjoyed a decorated coaching career spanning over three decades in the NFL.
McGinnis began his professional journey with the Chicago Bears in 1986 as linebackers coach and spent 10 seasons under legendary head coaches Mike Ditka and Dave Wannstedt.
In 2000, he was named head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, a role he held until 2003. During his tenure, he compiled a 17-40 record and played a key role in the Cardinals' push for a new stadium.
After leaving Arizona, McGinnis joined the Tennessee Titans in 2004 as linebackers coach and later became assistant head coach. He remained with the organization until 2011 and returned in 2017 as the team's color commentator on game broadcasts.
Titans controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk described him as 'family,' saying 'Coach Mac gave so much of himself to this organization over the years, and his passion, loyalty and love for the Titans never wavered.'
