Former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III (RG3) quickly came to his defense, taking to social media to call out what he sees as unfair and excessive criticism of the dual-threat signal-caller.
RG3 pushed back firmly, emphasizing Hurts' proven track record as a winner. Despite a dip in offensive efficiency during parts of the 2025 season, Griffin argued that the constant shifting of expectations around Hurts is unfair.
He highlighted how Hurts has thrived under the intense spotlight in Philadelphia and delivered when it matters most.
