NFL veteran Mike Pennel is at the center of a controversy after a recent investigation revealed a shocking link to the death of a woman whose body was found on property he formerly owned in the Dominican Republic.

According to ESPN's investigation, Pennel was acquainted with the woman, Carli Franchesca Guzmán Roche, and they shared moments on his property in the Puerto Plata resort region until he sold it in 2025.

Guzmán was reported missing on September 11, 2021, and her remains were discovered in January 2026 during excavation work conducted by the property's new owner.

Prosecutors are currently treating the matter as a homicide investigation, although officials have not yet publicly disclosed a cause of death.

Pennel denies any involvement in the case, but the new developments raise fresh questions and potentially challenge the earlier narrative.
